author outlook official mother tongue effort necessary foreign in order to educated man travel abroad
Foreign Languages in our life Learning a foreign language isn't an easy tiling. Nowadays it's especially important to know foreign languages. Some people learn languages because they need them for their work, others travel abroad, for the third studying foreign languages is a hobby. Everyone, who knows foreign languages can speak to people from other countries, read foreign authors in the original, which makes your outlook wider. I study English. It's a Long and slow process that takes a lot of time and efforts. Over 300 million people speak it is as a mother tongue. The native speakers of English live in Great Britain, the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand. English is one of the official languages of the United Nations Organization and other political organizations. English language is a wonderful language. It's the language of the great literature. It's the language of William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and others. Half of the world's scientific literature is in English. It's the language of computers technology. The great German poet Goethe once said, "He, who knows no foreign language, doesn't know his own one". That's why in order to understand oneself and environment one has to learn foreign languages. I think that to know English today is absolutely necessary for every educated man, for every good specialist.
1. Is it an easy thing to learn a foreign language? 2. Why do people learn foreign languages? 3. Do you know any foreign language? 4. Where do the native speakers of English live? 5. What can you say about English language?
Текст: «Роль иностранного языка в формировании информационной культуры человека». Dear friends, My name is Olga Arsalan. I am more than 80 years old. This is a picture of me when I was about your age. I would like to tell you about the great role that English has played in my long life. When I was about your age, in the early 1920s, I happened to come across an English book of stories published in a strange way. The first line was written in English, the second line gave the pronunciation in Russian letters and the third line gave the translation into Russian (like the present day book, "Говорите по-английски"). It was really fun to read and soon I began to understand simple phrases without looking at the translation and I even learned many of the phrases by heart. The results of this language game were very successful. At age 15, I started working as a cashier at the hotel "Europe" in a seaport, Novorossyisk. First I went by car (yes, by car!) to foreign ships docked at the port and invited their crew to visit the hotel's restaurant and to taste its delicious dishes and wines. Late at night they paid their bills in currencies of different nations, such as Great Britain, Greece, Turkey and others. To tell you the truth, they never cheated me in any way. At the same time, I was asked to teach elementary English to the crew of an ice-tanker, which was going to England. So, my first English class consisted of a group of lively seamen enjoying their short rest at the seashore. We held our classes at the seaman's club. After some time, they learned about 20 useful sentences and were sure they knew English well. After this interesting experience, I decided to become a teacher. I began studying in Leningrad. Then, in 1940, I graduated from the Moscow Institute of Foreign Languages. Since that time, I have been teaching, teaching and teaching English. I've taught English to school children, writers, composers, scientists and even the staff of the Ministry during WWII In the 1960s and 1970s, because of my knowledge of English, I was able to work as an interpreter with different delegations of peace activists from many different countries. I interpreted for many well-known people from Moscow and all over the country. Believe me that even now after 30 years of fruitful work, many of these people still send me letters and would like to meet again. And now let's speak about you and your English, dear girls and boys. You have studied two parts of "Happy English" by now. That means that your knowledge of English is rather solid. But don't stop studying the language now. To avoid forgetting even a little bit of it, continue studying it yourself for at least 20 minutes every day. This way, you won't forget anything and will improve your English skills. What can you really do to improve your English? Let me give you some advice:
Why do you need to know English? English is becoming a global language. At least a half a billion people in the world use English at home or work. Problems of the 21st century, such as problems of war and peace, ecology, demography, and democracy, can not be solved if people do not speak the same language. Interpreters take time and now time is as precious as never before. So, dear boys and girls, don't waste time. Go on studying English each and every day. And finally, I'd like to wish you all a long, fruitful, happy life in peace, brotherhood and friendship.

What Do You Want to Be When You Leave School? Sometimes it is difficult to give a definite answer because there are very many trades and professions which are important and useful. But there are always some boys and girls who know very early what trade or profession they will take up. Others are ready to enter a profession in which they can be of help to other people but they have, not yet decided which profession to choose. In the Russian Federation young people have every chance to choose a job for which he or she may be well suited. There are very many different kinds of jobs, but it is not difficult to find out about any one of them. This may be done by going to a public library and reading special literature; also by talking to older people who are occupied in that particular kind of work. They can help you to find out if you will be able to do that kind of work well, and tell you what there may be for you in the future. If a school-leaver wants to get a higher education, the best road to it is through practical work. You will have time to think about your future if you do that and then, if you decide to go to an institute, you will already know life better. But whatever profession you choose you must be sure that the work you do will be useful to our democratic country. The situation in all countries, where there is always unemployment, is very different. It is not an easy thing for young people there to find work. In fact, many school -leavers have to join the army of the unemployed. 10. Write to the text plan. Retell the text.(Homework) 11. Write down the words. Translate them. bonus perk recruit work their way up supervision promote trainee challenge shift a plus 12. Read the job profiles. Sales involve above all effective communication. It starts with identifying potential buyers of a product and their needs. The salesperson then has to explain how the product will meet these needs. While many sales representatives travel to find their customers, others spend the majority of their time selling by phone. To succeed in sales you need to be confident, persistent, determined, highly motivated and a good team player. Many safes jobs offer commission or bonuses for good performance and also perk such as company cars. New recruits are usually trained on the job. Chef. Service industries are growing fast in most countries. Hotels, restaurants, pubs, clubs and fast-food outlets are growing in number, and all of them need staff, including chefs who are responsible for preparing food. Most chefs are trained in colleges before they enter the catering industry, where they can work their way up to the position of head chef. A head chef is responsible for the whole kitchen, including supervision of staff and trainees and planning and budgeting menus. Graduates in the Police Service. Are you a university graduate who doesn't enjoy the thought of being behind a desk from 9 to 5, answering the phone and making coffee? If that's the case, you may; want to consider joining the police force. The police offer excellent opportunities for graduates and are keen to promote intelligent young people within the service. You'd start by serving a minimum of two years as a constable, mostly patrolling the streets. You should be prepared for shift work which will play havoc with your social life. But if you cope with all the challenges you will be ready for promotion, first to sergeant and then to inspector. This is a position of leadership which involves evaluating your colleagues' performance, anticipating difficulties and moving people and equipment to the right place at the right time. You'll have a lot of responsibility. Holiday Representatives and Tour Guides. This is a job which requires you to be tactful and to stay calm under pressure. You'll have to deal with the problems and needs of holidaymakers, but you'll also have to know the area you are working in and plan trips and tours that will please everyone. The perks include free travel and living abroad. However, you'll have to go where your company sends you, which may be anywhere from the peaceful Maldives to the noisy club scene on the Costa del Sol. You don't need to be a graduate to work in the travel industry, but an extensive knowledge of the world and experience of travel is definitely a plus for job applicants. 13. Look at the titles of the four job profiles and write down which skills and abilities are necessary for each career. Use the words from the practical work № 1. «Языки международного общения в современном мире и их роль при выборе профессии»

Коды формируемых компетенций: ОК4, ПК 5.1,ПК 5.2. Рекомендация по выполнению задания 1.Read and orally translate the text into Russian. Political system of Great Britain The United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy. This means that it has a monarch (a king or a queen) as its Head of State. The present British monarch is Queen Elizabeth II, who succeeded to the throne in 1952. The monarch has very little power and can only reign with the support of Parliament, which consist of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Parliament and the monarch have different roles in the government of the country. In reality, the House of Commons is only one that has true power, it introduces new bills. They then go to the House of Lords for approval, and finally the monarch sings them. Only then they can become laws. The House of Commons is made up of 650 elected members, known as Members of Parliament (or MPs), each of whom represents an area of the UK. The political parties choose candidates in elections. The party, which wins the majority of seats in the House of Commons, forms the Government and its leader usually becomes Prime Minister. The largest minority party becomes the Opposition (or the "Shadow Cabinet"). The Prime Minister chooses about twenty MPs from his or her party and forms his or her Cabinet Ministers. Each Minister is responsible for a particular area of government. For example, the Minister of Defense is responsible for defense policy and the armed forces, the Home Secretary for law and order and immigration. The House of Lords consist of more than 1000 hereditary lords and peers. It has very little power. The two main political parties in Great Britain are the Conservative and the Labor party. Among the political parties there is the Liberal party and Social-Democratic party. 2. Answer the questions.
